    • Our Philosophy

Our name, Sei Ryu Kan, meanings “The way of peaceful strength.” We stay true to the example of our founders by training hard and realistically using practical self-defense techniques.  A strong mind and body coordinated to work for health, lead to a longer healthier life.  As a student of this martial art, one learns the history and is exposed to the philosophy of the art. The student trains to avoid trouble, though will always be alert to its possibility and be prepared for it.  The student will learn that refusing or avoiding a fight is not a sign of cowardice.  Rather it is a show of respect for people, especially for someone who understands that the knowledge and use of Kajukenbo can cause great injury. The student will discover that self-confidence is the prelude to humility and self-control.
